The Botanic Garden, Meise, Belgium integrates a large collection of living plants (18,000 taxa), a herbarium (3 million dried plant specimens) and a scientific library (200,000 vol.), thus aiming at research, conservation and education in the field of plant biodiversity. Research in systematics, phylogeny, conservation biology and allied fields covers all plant groups (vascular plants, bryophytes, fungi, lichens and algae) and geographically focuses on Western Europe, the polar regions and equatorial Africa.
